This project has been over 30 years in the making. Rob has been a comic collector since the 80’s amassing a large collection up to 1990 where he joined the Navy and collecting slowed but never stopped as many of the locations the service carried him to didn’t have a strong following of American Comics. In 2011, several years of stability in the US allowed for Rob to test out the prospect of monetizing his passion and started selling at antique malls, comic conventions, eBay, etc. Though Rob thoroughly enjoyed his success, especially at comic conventions and in the ecommerce environment, the Navy moved him yet again overseas to Italy which forced another two-year hiatus in the creation of this site. This time was not wasted as much like Tom Hanks in Shawshank Redemption, Rob spent the two years planning for the eventual roll-out of www.popculturehobbies.com.
