Avengers #71 (1969) is a key Bronze Age transitional issue featuring the first appearance of the Invaders, the World War II superhero team including Captain America, Namor, and the original Human Torch.

Written by Roy Thomas with artwork by Sal Buscema and Sam Grainger, the issue also features appearances by Kang the Conqueror and the Grandmaster, continuing the cosmic storyline that defined several late-1960s Avengers issues.

The Invaders would later become one of Marvel’s most popular WWII superhero teams, eventually receiving their own series in the 1970s and remaining a fan-favorite part of Marvel history.
