Large and impressive early-period original painting by noted fantasy and comic book artist Dorian Cleavenger. Executed in acrylic on Bainbridge board measuring 18 x 24 inches (sight), framed to approximately 30 x 23 inches.
The composition features a dramatic, ritualistic scene: a bare-breasted woman kneeling before firelight, gripping a blade aimed toward her chest beneath vaulted architecture. A richly atmospheric and cinematic work typical of Cleavenger’s powerful fantasy imagery.
Signed and dated “’92” at lower right. Title inked on verso: “The Haven.” Painted on Fredrix canvas panel.
Condition: Excellent. Minor expected age toning to reverse. Frame presents well and enhances display presence.
This is one of Cleavenger’s more fully rendered, cover-quality paintings from the early 1990s and displays exceptionally well due to its scale and dramatic lighting.
